The authors were officially married, wooo hoo! at Masjid Telipot, Kota Bharu 11.15am 14th March 2009. A slight drizzle started as both parties arrived at the Mosque, hujan rahmat or tears of blessings – according to those who attended the function.
A lot of my Muslim Malay friends ‘scared’ the shit out of me, when they said the Tok Kadi will ask ‘difficult’ questions prior to performing the akad nikah. Fortunately for me, the Imam of Masjid Telipot didn’t, all he asked was about my diving experiences, I think my father-in-law blabbed that I am a diver.
Yeah! It still took me twice to say the akad which went like this:
“Saya terima nikahnya _______ dengan mas kahwinnya _______ ringgit tunai”
One of the witnesses – there were 2, couldn’t catch the word ringgit, so I had to repeat the akad.
The entire process took 6 minutes (according to the video), but I’ve waited a lifetime – it felt more like time stood still though, for this.
